the yummyness.

the past 3 days have been filled with sickness, clouds, coldness, and rain. not fun. i think i have only left the house 3 times over the past 72 hours and the length of those trips combined was probably 3 hours. that's a lotttt of time in one place, so i decided to switch things up a bit last night and we went for this...
nothing like a gummy bear to brighten the spirits...
i think we need to make this a regular occurrence come summer time...i think ella would agree considering this was her remnants of the yummyness....
speaking of ella. she was supposed to be napping. putting her down for a nap while she is sick is horrendous...for some reason she doesn't want to sleep and insists on telling me every two seconds. i digress. i went in there to check and saw her laying there (plus) eyes wide open (dis) so i said 'ella why aren't you sleeping?' in a very snotty tone she replied 'i am.' apparently my daughter thinks i am stupid. and that wasn't a rhetorical question or statement. oh what a grand past 3 days it's been. i need some sun and some shine, hopefully combined.

on this side of the mississippi.

this week has been a pretty interesting assortment of happenings. we've been sick (ella and the captain have this not so cool sort of congestion goin' on...and ella has a fever to boot), played with emma while simultaneously sampling Frost cupcakes, yum to the yum, been soaked to the core weather wise, sleeping (yes, captain slept til 4:30 and 5am on two different occations!), smiled a ton, turned 7 weeks, and most imporantly got a new addition to our camera family, my mini instax camera. for how horrible it has been here weather wise, that was all over shadowed with my new camera. it rocks my socks. it takes mini polaroids that are roughly the size of business cards. it's safe to say that i'm in l♥ve.

sunflower power.

i saw this cake on pinterest and was smitten. seemed easy enough to make (turned out to be super easy).  having to take a dessert to church tomorrow night seemed like the perfect excuse to bust out some flower power.

nana helped me out by bringing over some retro, i'm talking 50 year old, 9 inch baking pans and the wraps that i needed to go around the outside to make each cake bake evenly and not rise. i used yellow cake mix, milk chocolate frosting, yellow peeps (obviously) the recipe said 19, but i only used 15, regular chocolate chips for the inside, and mini chocolate chips for the innermost circle.
bake cake according to box. frost and frost some more. decorate. enjoy.

not so magnificent monday.

this picture pretty much sums it up. however, i am in the mood to elaborate so here you go. today was just so .... monday-ish. here's the breakdown of how this monday worked out to be less than stellar.
1. got the call that ella's gymnastic class through the city of ceres was CANCELLED...ella was the only one signed up. diss.
2. captain cried for pretty much 4 hours straight due to the fact that i desperately needed lucky charms. i think milk irritates his belly.
3. the weather put the 'uck' in sucks.
4. i head to turlock in search of the cupcake shop, which i now know is named Frost. drive around and finally FIND it. excitement filled my core and i was ready to turn this frown upside down. i get everyone out of the car (which is difficult when you have a 3 and a half year old who doesn't listen), get her all pumped up as we waltz to the entrance and it's....closed. closed. can you believe it? i was in shock since i had just looked up the hours online and it was supposed to be open.
5. from there it was just a downhill mess of not listening, whining, demanding, and being obnoxious from ella. i was going to sell her for $10 or best offer, good thing i was listening to klove. nothing like a little christian music to encourage you to keep your kid. joking. joking.

all jokes aside. you are looking, well reading, at the newest member of....cue dramatic music...
Image Detail
yes, i do realize i am probably the last person on earth to sign up. but i am ecstatic.

aaron go bra.
more specifically erin go bragh. actually i don't even know what that translates into...hopefully nothing obscene, but none the less happy st. patrick's weekend! here's a little of the happenings in this neck of the woods.

we drank an insane amount of green milk. had a yummy green smoothie for breakfast. lunch featured a rainbow kabob, lucky charms, and a shamrockin' sandwich. and cookies finished off the night followed by a treasure hunt. sugar high was in full effect since good ol cyndi said ella could frost 2 cookies, one in green and one in white. wasn't that nice of her?

Green Smoothie Recipe
1 Banana
2 cups of Honeydew
2 Kiwis
1 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp honey
3-4 ice cubes
*i found this recipe on Pinterest...it was yummy and green...double bonus! made me insanely ready for spring and official smoothie season to start.

jokes for days.
so we might've had too much powdered sugar on our puffed pancake this morning, because the following knock-knock jokes ensued from ella braylynn, which by the way, she found drop dead hilarious.

knock, knock.
who's there?
orange-nana.
orange-nana who?
orange nana is (insert pause) orange!!

knock, knock.
who's there?
momma.
momma who?
momma daddy!!!

and for the grand finale.

knock, knock.
who's there?
orange.
orange who?
orange sugar!!!

mind you, each joke was followed by loud shrieking laughter from ella. her laugh made me laugh, which only perpetuated the knock knock jokes. i love me some ellie
what's good in the hood.
paying a little homage to good ol ceres, i decided to put the 'g' in ghetto with the post title. it only seems fitting since we got this hard core princess we got rollin' 'round this 'hood.

so it's a little hard to tell...but home girl got her nails and hair did along with her make up and glitter in her hair. i'm not sure a look is complete without glitter (the inner trannie always comes out when i'm playing dress up).
we have nowhere to go. no one to impress. but the girls gotta look good to watch shark tale... which is her new favorite movie. we watch it 1 -2 times a day WITH popcorn. it's not as good without popcorn. :)

happy monday! bachelor finale on tonight....hollllllaaaa!

3.09.2012

today.
we did a little of this.

some of this.

and a little of that.

the cupcakes sucked for lack of a more refined word. playing in the park rocked our socks. and the weather was splendid. hurry spring hurry.

a half birthday and a one monther.
today ella is exactly 3 and a half and mr. captain is 1 month old...two pretty important dates in my book. so the only obvious thing to do is celebrate right?! well, my idea of celebrate is quite different these days apparently, compared to my good ol partyin'-it-up days. nothing like a photo shoot in the morning, a little park, and possibly some cupcake making. i said possibly because at this exact time ella is in trouble for not listening. something new right?!

this morning started wtih  me telling ella happy half birthday as she insisted on watching toons on mommy's bed. she replied, 'yea it's my birthday. are friends coming over today?' i had to re-explain what a half birthday is and we practiced saying 3 and a half...but of course when a guy at the park asked her how old she is...she said very confidently, 'two.' really ella? haha

3 and a half just seems old. i was looking at her today as we walked to the park and she's no longer even a toddler it seems. she's just old! her long skinny legs, continual talking and fantasy stories seem to propel her to another level entirely. her favorite princess is cinderella. she loves to color, build with blocks, and put pretties on. she would live in her princess dresses every minute of every day if i would let her. her favorite shows are angelina ballerina, olivia, and mickey mouse club. she loves books. she loves jumping on the couch (which she's not allowed to do, but will try to sneak whenever possible), and her favorite color varies depending on which day it is. she loves animals, especially dogs obviously, swinging, going fast, and is fearless.
now with captain, this past month has literally flown by. i can't even believe captain is 1 month already. captain loves to try and hold his head up...even though he's kinda a bobble-head. he loves to eat. loves to sleep at certain times of the day. still cannot stand the bath...holllly geez. his blue eyes are still blue, he won't be able to wear 0-3 month clothing for very much longer, and if you compare him to ella as a baby, he's a bagillion times easier.
oh how i love both my babies. the following pictures will reiterate why.

there was a discussion between ella and this random worm, it went something like this....
ella: 'hi worm, where's your family'
        'where do you live worm?'
        'where's your face? i can't see it.'
'bye worm, have a good day.'
the worm was apparently a little shy, hence the no responses on his or her part. today has been absolutely gorgeous. hopefully someones attitude will make an adjustment and we'll be stuffin' our faces with some funfetti cupcakes later on today. that'd make this closet fat girl beyond happy!
